You Got This

Life on Kaua`i is hard sometimes.

Breakups. Anxiety. Bullies on social media. A crowded home. No car. Nothing to do. Things aren’t the way you want them to be.

You may not feel like it now, but you have more power over your life than you think.

  • Remember that challenges are normal and everyone faces them. You’re not the only one.

  • Break-ups are hard, but they are temporary. Surround yourself with other people who care while you get through the break up.

  • Failure and mistakes are okay and the only way to success.

  • Share your feelings with an adult or a friend. Ask for help even if you don’t want to, even if you feel dumb. You’re not dumb.

  • Take things one step at a time, one day at a time. If something’s not working, try something new. You’ll get there.

  • Stay away from drama. It’s okay to enjoy a social media break

  • Take a walk outside or get some exercise to clear your head instead of making rash decisions.

  • Participate in an activity such as art, a club, sports, church, music, or community service.

  • Be kind to others. Sharing kindness makes you feel better, too.

  • Rest, because a nap or a good night’s sleep can make you look at a situation differently.

  • Try to do your best in school, even during challenging times. Follow the rules and get your work done on time. You’ll be glad you did.

  • Count on this: I love you just the way you are and I know you can have a bright future. I’m sure of it even when you aren’t.

Some days simply suck but tomorrow is a new day where anything good can happen. The sun rises every day. Together, we got this.
